On February 14, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission announced the list of the second round of “double first-class” construction universities and disciplines. NJUPT was selected as the “double first-class” construction university for the second time, and the selected discipline was “Electronic Science and Technology”.This is an important milestone in the development history of NJUPT and a new starting point to write a new chapter in the construction of high-level research universities in the new era.
During the first round of “double first-class” construction, NJUPT upheld the comprehensive leadership of the Communist Party of China over colleges and universities, persevered in the socialist orientation provision, kept to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and successfully completed the phased task of the first-round construction.Our university focused on the frontier of electronic information discipline and major national needs, carried out scientific research, overcame major theoretical problems and key technologies, and led the innovative development of the industry. Great progress has been made in carrying out reform and innovation in the cultivation of top-notch talents, the construction of teaching staff, scientific research and social services, inheriting and innovating excellent culture, international cooperation and exchanges, etc.Remarkable achievements have also been made in participating in the formulation of international telecommunication rules and technical standards, giving full play to the unique role of academic member units of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), achieving high construction tasks and significantly improving the growth of construction disciplines.According to the announcement of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the preparation of a new round of “double first-class” project, NJUPT has effectively strengthened the organizational leadership, fully carried forward democracy, widely listened to opinions, gathered the consensus of the whole school, carefully planned and scientifically formulated the construction objectives, construction contents, expected results and organizational guarantee according to the demonstration and preparation requirements of the construction plan, finally, a new round of “Overall Construction Plan of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications for Double First-Class Project” and “First-Class Discipline Construction Plan of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications” were prepared and completed.
NJUPT takes the second round of “double first-class” project as an opportunity,upholds the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and fully implements the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of important speeches and the central talent work conference. In accordance with the decision and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on the construction of “double first-class”, with the goal of “NJUPT features, Chinese characteristics and world-class”, our university will inherit the red gene of the “training class for communication officers in the Eighth Route Army”, undertake the responsibility and mission of “the cradle of Chinese IT talents”, cultivate first-class electronic information meritocrats, deal with the international scientific and technological leading edge and national strategic needs, adhere to the road of running schools with electronic information characteristics, accelerate the construction of first-class disciplines in Electronic Science and Technology, and strive to build a first-class university with distinctive characteristics in the field of electronic information.
